The wheel base was extended by approximately 2 cm if I remember right. The reason was to improve stability. As a drawback though the turning circle was a bit wider so they used more narrow front wheels to improve steering.
Schumacher also came up with a long-wheel-based cat.

Re: The dangers of charging a lipo in the car...
My god. That's too bad lipos are so sensitive. That really prevents me from switching to them. I enjoy my nicd batteries: roughly 30 years old, many times overcharged, no need to balance, took much heat in my parents' attic for more than 25 years and they work absolutely fine. No smoke, no fire... S...

Re: 48P Optima Mid LWB conversion a success.
The stress on the belt and transmission in General does not come from the motor only but also from the grip on the track. There are also different kinds of belts, made from different materials (polyurethane, propylene) but of the same size. Maybe some kinds are not tough enough or suitable for other...

Re: Kyosho newb question
My first rc car was a salute (an optima with several options) and then I got an optima mid custom special so I can pretty well compare both. The optima series was first launched with a chain drive, which was not very effecient and I also read it always ends up lengthening. My salute I bought with a ...

You've changed the belt too. How can you ensure it is brushless proof? Are there any durability / strength indexes?
