rc10sc5m vs rc10t5m
I think I may be able to grab a local rc10sc5m for about $120 which is about what I want to spend on a basher, but I am more interested in stadium trucks. I see a lot of parts in common for the rc10(b/t/sc)5 platform, including axles and suspension arms. What are the part differences between the t5m...

Re: B4 parts supplies drying up
It may be that the feeling of part insecurity is a bigger problem than actually sourcing parts. At least that was the case for me. That's pretty much it I guess. I've not actually driven the B4 yet but I was going to throw an old NiCd or two in it this weekend for giggles. I enjoy the building/rebu...

Re: Newbie seeking some advice... or guidance.
Is a B3 worth restoring? This hobby is nearly the same as restoring vintage full size cars. It's only worth it if you enjoy it. Truer words have never been spoken. I restore full size cars. I'm just finishing up a 1984 Rabbit GTI, which was particularly difficult because it's in the purgatory of ol...

Is a B3 worth restoring? This hobby is nearly the same as restoring vintage full size cars. It's only worth it if you enjoy it. For every dollar you put into a restoration you can get a dime out. So if reading though old magazines and chasing down parts on ebay is a fun time go the vintage electron...

Re: B4 parts supplies drying up
Yeah, I can see that logic. I just wish there was a Traxxas buggy I really wanted, not just one I'd settle for. And I wish they made kits! A 4WD buggy would be nice. I guess I may start looking for a Bandit to play with, new or otherwise. ... and now I have a stripped Bandit on its way. I have most...

Re: B4 parts supplies drying up
From another point local shops stock parts that support their racers and the kits they sell. I doubt that a real profit is made from selling parts. The margin on parts is (was?) several times better than the margin on kits. Back when I was behind the counter, the profit on selling a spare set of ar...

Re: B4 parts supplies drying up
I have a B4 RTR I bought a while back on eBay and haven't run yet. The price was perfect for a used 'modern' basher, and for a model that I figured would have future parts availability like a 2nd gen Camaro considering how long the B4 platform was Associated's main 2WD buggy. But looking around, fr...

Re: Hex axle option
For anyone curious. I did one block using a drill bit as out lined and was unhappy with the fit, though it did fit and work. I tried a 10mm reamer next. I will confirm using a 10mm reamer on steering block will not work. It removes too much material from the rear of the carrier to seat the metric be...

Re: Chris VanAir 2016 inspired build
Piece by piece this is getting there. The #2 shock pistons were GHEA 2066 Team Associated Tapered Delrin Machined Pistons 2 Hole T4/B4/B44.1.2 or GHEA 2065-F Pro Team Associated Flat Delrin Machined Pistons T4/B4/B44.1.2 I picked up a pair of each and I'll see which one runs better. Also the tire in...

Re: Chris VanAir 2016 inspired build
I just got in the new shock bodies and had time to build the front shocks. 2EAD5177-8411-4630-98FF-512E0775EA2F.jpeg DE405A9A-1D69-4077-9787-8FF3A0F76ED3.jpeg I found the new threaded bodies in my price range and I am glad I did. I didn’t expect the shocks to be much different than the orange ones. ...

Re: Turnigy Trackstar 80A Runaway
Got the servo steering limit set on the transmitter, turned the punch down a couple of pegs, and reinstalled the glitch buster correctly. I had a lot of good, controllable, aggressive throttle run time and didn't have a runaway until the battery was noticeably slowing down. Even then I (usually) st...

Re: Chris VanAir 2016 inspired build
I got tired of waiting for parts and built the truck up to run today. Soldered up the motor and used the stock futaba esc. The only battery I had was the 700mah that I found and it is a special kind of angry pushing around the truck. I actually get about 5 minutes out of it before it croaks. Tons of...
