Motor Choice for 10L Graphite

I've been waiting for the right 10L to come my way for a while and finally came across this one. It's going to end up on my shelf when it's done and I would like to have a cool, era correct, motor in it. These are a couple of the motors that I have and I'm wondering if either one of these would be c...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

It's funny that you just said that because I'm currently scouring the internet looking for key component differences between the 12e and the 12i. The only 1/12 pan car I've ever owned was a Bolink 12 and that was about 26 years ago :? I have come across a couple 12L's recently but this is mostly all...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

Ok, the guy who built all these cars was no slouch in the design or fabrication/machining of rc parts and it was evident in all the cars I purchased from his son. I received a pile of templates with the collection-mostly different shock tower configurations for the RC10. In the first 3 pics here we ...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

Ok, now we're onto something. Sorry PRP, I misunderstood your first reply. I also have a rc12i of sorts and now comparing all of these cars, I think I have some hybrids on my hands. Give me a couple min. and I'll post the pics.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

I was going to remove it because I was also thinking maybe some kind of transponder, but it is the on/off switch on the bottom of the car-all one piece. I've never heard of an external BEC but that makes a lot of sense since it is integrated with the switch.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

I'm thinking custom chassis myself as I stare at it more, but I'm not seeing anything rc12l on it. The rear set up, top plate, battery straps, rear shock, front components, ball cups etc are the same as the old tamiya 1/12 cars. I have a couple rc12l's, Tamiya race master, and tamiya road wizard f-1...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

Can't seem to figure out what this car is. It's 1/12 Tamiya. Also, what is this microchip thing on the front? They are on a couple of the cars I just picked up.

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

Too big to get in the mail, but worth the drive to pick it up. Complete cars on the table include rc10l, rc10lss, a couple rc12l's, 3 Tamiya road wizards and a couple cars I have yet to identify. The rc10 is an A stamp 6 gear and the 3 boxes its sitting on all have complete rc10's in them. 2 of the ...

Re: Kyosho Ultima / Sideways Project

I like what you're thinking. I'm thinking of going with a white body with red/silver/black version of the original decals. A white bumper and motor guard might look really cool. The front bumper would have to be a white version of the original. I've looked at every bumper I could find and the origin...

Re: Kyosho Ultima / Sideways Project

I was considering having MCI make me a set of reproduction decals in colors that would match the rest of the car. I assembled the car using the stainless screws from rcscewz. What a joke that was. Their customer service and response time was very good, and the quality of the hardware seems very good...

Re: Kyosho Ultima / Sideways Project

Update on the ultima project. Got a few more parts in the mail including the machined aluminum upper deck. Did some cleaning on it and put a tower hobbies "speed secret" motor. I don't think this is a high end brushed motor, but I had a brand new one laying around and I'm curious what kind...

Re: Help with LXT I.D.

That would confirm the story I got with the truck too. It is possible to cleanly reshape a chassis, I even recently reshaped a foam core graphite and it looks super clean, but for every clean job, I've seen a hundred hack jobs. That makes me sceptical every time I see nice clean work i guess. ...

Re: Help with LXT I.D.

The steering brace is definitely a Jammin' Jay Halsey piece. It even came with the original instructons for it. Here's some more chassis pics.
