Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Thanks all! I did a pretty good job with a paint brush, air canister and a lightly damp towel. I'm going to try not to be so obsessive about this. Dirt is just surface. Every once in a while, I will break things down to clean it and more often if/when I race...I think that's the routine I want to ge...

I took it out today!!!
Today was the day! It saw dirt for the first time (and probably the last time) http://i.imgur.com/NBkb0p6.jpg A quick video of it burning rubber! I tell ya, this car is FUN! wIlnIM8FPbE But that fun leads to: http://i.imgur.com/ag63Dr7.jpg I brought a brush and cleaned the majority of bigger, ...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Thank you! I'm optimistic. I put heat shrink on it and hope it lasts..Though I need to also work on the heat shrink part because of the unnatural 90 degree connections.
Yes, twisting the wire..I think I did forget to do that on the black one. I'm learning!
Thanks all!

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Thanks! Appreciate your kind words.
I actually had to go back after I took that picture to add some solder on the black wire because I realized a very small amount of wire was exposed at the back. Of course, that made the connection look a bit worse but glad I caught it nonetheless.

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Alright guys...I made another attempt and I think I'm getting close. At least close enough where this connection may be good enough to move on w/ my progress. I really paid attention to all of what you've all said, what to pay attention to, each individual steps and made some technique adjustments s...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Guys! Thanks very much! I never would have guessed the vise being an issue too. I've seen people use vises all the time. What's the difference? Is it only for bullets? I do have another helping hand but it's so top heavy and hard to get any leverage. I will get rid of the vise. Will it help if I put...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Right the liquid solder provides a really good heat connection and the adding a dab also adds more flux. I'm going to disagree with what has been said here in that the connection looks workable but you actually need to add solder. Is the connector hollow inside or are you placing the wire at 90 deg...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Thank you so much! I've seen plenty of videos but those videos all makes it look so easy and I know a lot of it is feel and look, which is hard to understand initially. I don't have time tonight to re-do but will try tomorrow. I am using 60/40 so sounds like I'm good there. Also, in one of your last...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
This is very handy for removing solder. Squeeze the bulb, hold, melt solder, release the bulb and suck it up. https://www.radioshack.com/products/desoldering-bulb Also, are you using flux? I did not see that mentioned previously. Thanks! I've seen something similar with the suction action. I'll giv...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
That solder joint looks a bit cold to me as the solder has not flowed and looks a bit like butter spread around. There is also too much solder applied in my opinion. Unsolder them, cut the gluggy bit of wire off and try again with clean wire, the joint should look liquid and shiny. Question related...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Alright guys. First, thanks for your little tid bits. I re-soldered the 1 bullet tonight. There were some solder left over on the bullet but I felt it was not enough so I added a bit more. Then I made sure I tinned all the way around the wire (which still had solder leftover). One thing that I also ...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's
Make sure the wire is tinned the whole way around and not just one spot. Is the solder flowing into the plug and wire or just sitting on top? Is it shiny or dull when it cools? You don't need braid to desolder bullets, braid is usually only used if you want to remove solder from circuit boards etc....
