Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

computer stores are a great source for those thumb screws in a 3mm, which is fully compatible. Probably even find them at a Best Buy! Case modders like them Thanks for the tip! Good choice! Boca's are great bearings. Plus they are sealed. You shouldn't have any problems with those. That's a good st...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Thanks Joey! So..went to my LHS, which is always dangerous. Instead of ordering the Avid bearings from online, I bought these Boca bearings: https://www.bocabearings.com/products/fr168-2gs-2604 They are 4x's more expensive but I like supporting my LHS for odds and ends like this and I assume these ...

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions

So Tower had moved the expected date they are going to receive shipment on the Futaba R204GF-E receivers from early-Dec to mid-Dec. I cancelled that back-order and ordered a Futaba R203GF 3-channel Rx from ebay with expedited shipping. I like that the R203GF has an antenna (unlike the R204GF), so I ...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Yes, a quiet building area does wonders. I've been there bro. Just a quick note, when you're assembling the steering rack assembly, leave the nose piece off until you get the white plastic washers seated under the assembly. It makes it a lot easier to maneuver things where you want them. Once ...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

On page 18 of the owner's manual it has a gearing chart for various motors. For 17.5T they suggest 30/81 as a starting point. That gearing is recommended for zero timing (ie. spec class). My esc and motor are locked at zero timing for stock spec-class racing. So for more speed, I had to change the r...

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions

Thanks! That's very helpful. Part of my research is to figure out why we upgrade. I understand, conceptually, that is is mostly about performance (speed, durability, handling, etc) with some aesthetics added in. But what each component does is what I want to start to get a handle on (there's so muc...

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions

Looks great! Can you tell me what the JC diamond nose brace tubes does compared to stock? Besides sexier, is it stronger? I assume a major reason is it's lighter? Thanks! In my opinion, just by looking at them...they are a little thicker in O.D. than the stock tubes near the center and at the ends....

Thank you RC10th! :D I'm going to try get the Detonator World's body painted soon. Not sure what direction I want to go on it yet. I'd like to stick with an old school theme though.

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions

I added a little bling bling this evening. Now I can officially say that I have some JConcepts parts on my RC10.

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

These are the flanged bearings that I used for the steering. At the time, they looked like a better deal than the Associated bearings. If Avid has them with rubber seals, I would opt for those if you are racing.

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions

Great job on the build! After reading through I realized you're the same guy that posted about the HW ESC and Motor and helped me with some soldering notes. I will be following along if you have further updates. That parts list you posted from your orders a few posts ago is super informative. Thank...

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions

I'm excited to say that I'm making a little more progress towards this build in the finishing stages. I have two JConcepts Detonator Worlds bodies to paint, and I just picked up some Auto-Air Candy2O paint and some Createx Pearl White. I'm trying to think of a nice divider color to go with those. No...
