Re: My latest Cadillac rc10 found on Craigslist.

Those are some sweet rims.

Something about "shelf queens" makes me sad. These are performance machines...they wanna run! ;)

b4.2 -- Another day, another broken part...

So, the boy's bashing around has incurred another casualty. This time it was the front bulkhead, which gave way after a particularly nasty crash. At least it's a fairly cheap part. Hopefully my LHS has it in stock. Thinking about buying a smaller pinion gear (or maybe a larger spur) to limit the car...

Re: b4.2 tires...interchangeable?

I have been using ca remover to remove tires recently, although it does take some time, the results are quite satisfactory. If the car is seeing much time on the asphalt perhaps some multi terrain tires like Proline Dirthawgs would be a good choice? Those Dirthawgs look like a good option. I don't ...

b4.2 tires...interchangeable?

So, my son's b4.2's tires are already losing a lot of tread after, ahem, some excursions onto the asphalt. (Suspect he may be spinning donuts on the sidewalk a bit too, but I digress...) When the time comes to get new tires, do I have to buy the rims as well, or can I somehow remove the old tires fr...

Re: Good 6 gear RC10 article..

Would be very interested in hearing back from anybody who has tried this. I'm planning to rebuild my CE's 6-gear sometime in the next few months or so. Does anybody know if the RC10 bearing set that Boca sells comes with the outdrive support bearings? Somewhere I read to build 6-gear transmissions ...

Re: b4.2 RTR...what happened to the spur gear???

The link is broken. Does it make any noise when you spin the spur gear with the pinion not meshed with the spur gear? If there is no clicking or occasional binding in the transmission when the spur is not in contact with the pinion, then the noise is likely from the pinion/spur. Link broken? Bugger...

Thoughts on gear noise?

We replaced the eaten spur gear on my son's b4.2, and set the mesh with a strip of printer paper inserted between the gears. When I run the motor, though, I am not certain that I like what I am hearing. I took a video to share the noise that I'm hearing. [youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBrt...

you can do it two ways, running a spacer inside the outdrive where the inner non flanged bearing went, or with a sleeve on the outside of the outdrive behind the 3/8" x 5/8" bearing.
That's it!

Thanks!

Anybody remember an RC10 6-gear trans mod in RC Car Action?

So, back long ago when I was in middle school and bashing around with my RC10 CE and regularly reading RC Car Action, I seem to remember a how-to published on how to modify the 6-gear transmission in order to reduce internal friction. I don't really remember much in the way of details, except it inv...

Re: b4.2 RTR...what happened to the spur gear???

Yeah, RTR isn't really 'RTR'. It just means that its been assembled but in reality you still need to check a few things and gear mesh is one of those things. Another thing is the slipper clutch settings - it may have been too tight and so when your son was mashing the gas, the gear was getting too ...

Re: b4.2 RTR...what happened to the spur gear???

Did he take it off any gnarly jumps? Rough landings? The motor could've simply moved. Or, some debris got in there and wiped it out. No gnarly jumps to take, as it was just relatively flat terrain with a few tree roots here and there. There were some clumps of grass that he got hung up in, and ther...

b4.2 RTR...what happened to the spur gear???

So my son got a b4.2 for his birthday and today we took it out for the first maiden run. After maybe, I don't know, 10 minutes of rooster tailing around in the dirt, I noticed something wrong sounding with the gears, so I told him to turn it off and bring it inside. When I pulled off the gear cover,...

Re: My Vintage RC10CE, Help!!

Would a 6-gear transmission not handle a newer motor? What's the definition of "silly"? A stock 6 gear should do fine with a stock class brushless, one of those 17.5. Many buy a brushless system and attempt to see how long a car designed not to wheelie will wheelie or how fast they can ma...
