Mark,
the duratrax axles are the wrong diameter for your bearing. That's because those axles are meant for wheels like the RC10 , b2, b3 and b4 used= without hex.
(I think they start as 5 mm at the cup and narrow down after the outer bearing on the duratrax carrier, but on the AYK the bearings are spaced further apart)

Phin,
The AYK bearings are spread a lot further apart than the ones on the scorpion. So an axle with the crosspin hole further from the cup is essential.
I have told MArk several times in several thread and PM's he should get this:

nr 43210

Serious (alex?),
Those will work for the trx1,3, tcp, scorpion and ultima for example: in combination with the wide TG10 axles.
I've used them a lot.
These TG10 axles are the middle ones in the same picture as the tobee's (bottom). Check out the previous threads of Mark.
They don't work for the AYK, because the crosspin hole sits inside the outer bearing.

I suggested taking grasshopper/hornet axles, cut to length, grind a flat, and add kyosho drive cups in Mark's other thread about axles, but I think there is some problem in doing that on the cup side. You could make the axle as long or as short as necessary. And it's 5mm.

I believe the 48mm kit, 43240 would've been good, but $50 plus shipping? No way. I appreciated the suggestion several times but I'm not working with that kind of "spare no expense" budget for this car, I'm just trying to make a reliable runner out of it for my buddy. 8)

48mm is the added width for the original car.
Image
That means the silver colored spacer on the lower left in the picture would measure 24mm. This spacer sits between the hex and outer bearing so the shaft is the original TLT length +24mm= much longer than what you need.
You need the 16mm or 24 mm width really: bit cheaper.

Still way too much for the budget for this car, unfortunately. I'm not putting $50 axles in this thing. :)
