Marui Shogun And Ninja?

Post by Mad Racer »

Ok I know the Samurai is the gun Marui buggy.

I do want one but the price is high for them.

What is the difference from the Shogun and Ninja.

Are they the same platform or are different altogether.

Any Help much appreciated.

PRP is correct obviously.

The Shogun and Ninja are actually even better cars to drive when set up properly - alot more reactive, but you would expect that from a shaft drive with a battery down the middle.

The Samurai is a completely different design to just about any other 4wd (spaceframe) - with perhaps the exception of the Playtron cars. Not many 4wd spaceframe chassis cars were made. At the time Marui were not marketed very well, suffering the fate of alot of other smaller brands BITD. It was only after that some drivers realised the potential of the chassis, sadly, the timing was all wrong and technology had moved on. The Samurai deserves its reputation as a great car though - as it drives exceptionally well and is surprisingly free in the drivetrain area. Damn good work for a chain drive back then.

Cheers

The Samurai was known for a weakness in the rear gearcase moulding - however the gears themselves we very reliable.

The Shogun and Ninja were prone to wear out the bevel drives at the end of the main shaft - particularly at the rear, this was mostly a problem running mod and or seven cell though. I ran one a few times in stock and nver had a problem (borrowed car).

Knowing you - you are as bad as Jason was and wont be happy unless you are going down the straight at "Mach 5 with your hair on fire!!"   So perhaps the Ninja is OK - just stock up on some bevel gears.

Worth having a look at though - as for vintage racing here in Aus - its a perfect car for mild mod - even better stock class. Relatively cheap parts and seem to come up quite a bit on eBay.

Cheers
