Re: How good are new bearings
There was a guy I was buying parts from that was trying to convince me that bronze bushings were better because he had experience with bearings seizing and transmissions getting destroyed under load. I have a Thorp gear set and Trackmaster input shaft that were damaged my a bearing failure. I recei...

Re: How good are new bearings
Also what about the associate 68xx PTFE bearings vs the65xx (sub thousand) metal shield bearings In general, PTFE shielded bearings fall in the middle. They seal better than metal shields but slightly increase drag. However, they don't seal as good as a rubber shield. Teflon seals are less durable ...

Re: How good are new bearings
For the average rc car user, high end bearings will just make your wallet lighter. A back yard basher will never see the difference. If you are racing at elite levels, the minor gains are probably worth it. Now, I'm not saying to buy the cheapest thing you can. There is a reason that those ultra-che...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!
Weird. A friend had a aftermarket Quadrajet on his 440, which ran 11.90's. Swapping the 750 DP from my car picked up seven tenths ( yes, tenths!), and we only adjusted the idle. Considering that it seemed to run fine with the Quadrajet, I can't explain the massive performance difference. He has offe...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!
I've owned and dealt with a couple Edelbrock carbs over the years. Once tuned, they seem to do pretty well on drivers. While I avoid fuel with ethanol on carburetors in general, Edelbrock and Carters seem even more vulnerable. While they seem to do well with drivabality, they tend to fall short in t...

Just saying. And those probably aren't their top of the line bearings.

You can see the dimple in the tab, where it was re-pressed.
The purple heatsinks look like the ones on my GM motors.

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
For my fishing reels, I make my own mix of TSI 321, Corrosion X, and 99% IPA. It's mostly alcohol as a carrier fluid. I flood the bearings in it and let the alcohol evaporate, leaving a thin film of TSI and Cor X. 99% IPA?? How many beers in before you forget there's a bearing sloshing around the b...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
Things to keep in mind: Not all bearings are created equal. Not by a long shot. Most RC bearings are actually on the cheaper side of the spectrum. I've paid $20+ each for some of the bearings in my fishing reels. Not all bearing oils are created equal, especially when trying to get something to spin...

i have done the trick to flip the steering links to the underside of the servo saver and it has improved its steering by a mile the one issue i do have though is those thin metal arm things that connect to the front of the chassis (you know the ones that come out of the front of the front arms ) on...

Re: Really off topic - End of an Era
I just keep buying broken mowers from Lowe's and putting my Honda motor on them.
They probably don't need much but that Honda doesn't need anything.

Picked up another Hobbywing 1080 , 17T Team Brood, and Reedy servo on Ebay.
Also bought a new Hitec RDX1 charger, figuring that I needed something better and more modern.
