RC10 Team Edition shock parts

I'm rebuilding an RC10 Team Edition with a carbon chassis and I just discovered that one of the nylon internal split snap rings is missing from one of the rear shocks. Anyone have a source or something that interchanges? I see they are included in kit 6430. Are the ones included in kit 6440 compatible? Is there anything else that may work from Mcmaster-Carr or something? I've attached a pic of the style of shocks I'm dealing with. Thanks!

the 6440 are the newer versions, and although expensive now they will be easier to locate. I do not know of a part that would work in place, but someone may have a spare to offer up.

Just to be clear. The ones included in the 6440 kit are interchangeable with the ones in the 6430 kit?

And, thanks for the help!

Yes, it was a running change. The clips are a different shape but fit the same

Thank you! Managed to find a partial 6440 rebuild kit with enough parts in it to do 2 shocks on Ebay for $20 shipped. I've got way too much $$ tied up in this thing...

Unfortunately, that's the breaks on these cars now..... Everything obsolete.

I can usually buy a set of used shock for 25-30 bucks and clean em up for spares.

I once bought a set of beat up GT shocks, just to strip them for parts. The plastics were worth more than the shocks.

The clips could easily be mass produced by someone with die cutting skills. Maybe they could be stamped from lexan sheet.
After it's been fitted, the part isn't heavily loaded so is it a good candidate for 3d printing?

I think I found a couple of good washers that would be ideal candidates to purchase and then notch. Just need to spend the money on them and see. I dont need any currently so it's low priority

This is what I was thinking also. Some 1/32" or so sheet nylon and some creativity might get the job done. When I get this partial kit in the mail maybe I'll do some measuring of their outer diameter and see if there are thin nylon washers or shims that can be modded to work. It really sucks spending $20 to get one part that literally cost 0.05 cents to produce 40 years ago.

Anyone know offhand with the inside diameter is of the early RC-10 shocks, 12mm? Look for something 13 or 13.5mm in diameter to cut a little wedge out of.

Lexan would be a good material for this application, maybe the thicker cut-offs from the bottom of a new body. I big hole punch is what I'm envisioning. Couldn't tell ya about the 3D print idea, maybe too brittle? No idea.

Here you go.

I took these measurements a few years ago. But then I came across a stash of shock parts.

I had hundreds of those clips floating around, not sure if I've started throwing them out or not

Ya know, looking at that sketch, I'd probably draw them in CAD, print a paper template, stick that to a sheet of styrene of the correct thickness, drill the holes and cut them out using an exacto knife. I'd forgotten just how simple are those clips.
