Nosram ESC repairable?

Post by Dadio »

I just received a Nosram Dominator RVHF. Sold as full working order, it only works forward and no brakes at all. Can these be repaired ? It's an old school circuit board inside I'd guess so how hard can it be?
Anybody ever repaired an old school ESC like this?

I would think it would be repairable as long as you know what the part numbers are on the fet's

I've thought about it all afternoon and I'm just going to return it, it's a shame as its mint to look at.

I have a few ESCs in that condition, pristine condition but not functional. And then a few toads that work flawlessly. At least this one is partially functional. Brakes are for the race losers! Winners use the throttle and hang on! 😁🤣

Last time I got a defective esc (two of them), the seller told me to keep them and refunded my money. They didn't see any reason to pay return shipping on something defective.

In the end, I was able to repair both. One had a bad switch and the other needed some wiring repaired.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

I did pop the case off to have a look but the FETs all have the same resistance for forward and breaks , the relay operates too but it's possible it has a dirty contact for reverse , to be honest if I'd found bad FETs I would have accepted the discount the seller offered , I discussed trying to repair it after he offered full refund but other than swapping FETs or the relay I'm lost so I went for the return and refund , the guy seemed honest , trades as Schumispares on eBay , pretty sure I've had stuff from him before , can't fault his responce .

How do you find the Fets for such old electronics? Last time I tried to repair an esc I couldn't find replacement components.

You can update the electronics. A newer fet can replace the older parts and offer better performance.

Dadio, Yes they can be repaired no problem. If the brakes do not work the brake fets are bad, they will also affect reverse.

Look up Ian Mulhanny (not sure how to spell it) on FB. If not talk to dinglem he will be able to put you in touch with Ian.
