Converting Futaba FP-T3PB to 2.4?

So I’ve read all I can find on the topic of converting a Futaba Magnum PCM 1024 FP-T3PB to 2.4. Unfortunately the threads that I have found are all a little aged and none of the modules discussed appear to be available.

Is there a drop in module available now to perform this upgrade?

Thank you.

I recently did the conversion and found myself in the same boat. All the mentioned modules were nowhere to be found.

With a bit of searching, I found one that worked and is still available.

Youre looking for the Corona CT8F module for the transmitter. The compatable receivers are the Corona CR3D, CR4D, CR6D and CR8D.

A quick google search came up with this

https://www.amazon.com/GoGoRc-Corona-2-4GHz-Module-Receiver/dp/B07ZMHGFPH

The binding instructions are pretty straight forward and it has worked perfectly so far.

Let me know if you have any questions

That’s brilliant, thank you, I shall go and search now as it doesn’t appear to be available on Amazon UK.

Well I’ve found the correct module thanks to Dom79 with RX on eBay so it’s hopefully on it way, fingers crossed there is nothing wrong with the TX as I was unable to test it other than turning it on and checking the lights 🤞

Make sure the dipswitch is set to PPM on the Futaba. You might need to reverse a channel or two depending on your setup (throttle/brake, left/right, etc.)

As for the RX, They are an aircraft style (but will work fine in a car) so the antennas are best positioned on a 90 degree angle

What I did was have one stick straight up like a traditional antenna and the other I mounted flat with the chassis which gave me the 90 degree.

Glad you were able to snag one, hopefully for a good price.

You can also find the receivers on Ali Express which are slightly cheaper then ebay.

Hope that helps

If you can still find one these work great.

https://www.getfpv.com/frsky-df-2-4ghz-combo-pack-for-futaba-w-module-rx.html

I included the Banggood link because it's available but that's double the price of the one I got from HobbyKing about 7 years ago.

I still used this radio a few years ago for some indoor racing. I've since lost the battery cover.
