Ultima top plate & rear shock tower...

Post by skippy7399 »

Hi guys new member, and can I say happy to find a place catering to vintage cars. So I'm here to ask a couple questions concerning my Kyosho Ultima.

Does any one know the difference between the standard radio plate that I think is black and the red version? I'm asking because I have the red one but it doesn't have the tabs on the side for the battery straps.

More importantly I have the optional Kyosho aluminum shocks, the rear shock tower has ears bolted on to add height to the tower to allow for the longer shocks. I want to know if these are indeed factory with aluminum shocks? Or do I have the wrong shock tower?

Thanks for any input.

Hello and Welcome.
I think You might have a Hot-Trick radio plate -
The added ears on the shock mount sounds interesting.
We wan´t pictures

It´s possible that You have a std. mkI with Turbo Shocks (platinum)

The Ultima top deck is black moulded plastic, the Turbo Ultima top deck is black fibreglass. The red one is the Hot trick 'upgrade' part which is red fibreglass. The reason it has no ears to attach the battery pack is because it is supposed to be used with a wide chassis that the battery pack is mounted to.

The shock mount will be the standard Ultima aluminium shock mount, designed for the kit short red shocks. When you upgrade the shocks you are supposed to replace the whole shock mount with the Kyosho UM-26 special shock stay, a one piece black fibreglass replacement for the kit shock mount. If you have extensions to mount the shocks then those will most likely be home made as all the available options I know of were replacement complete shock mounts.

Interesting. Thanks for the replies. I'll see if I can post a pic of the "ears". If they are home made, who ever did it did a good job. I'm going to look into the UM26 tower though. I have see pics of these, but thought they were wrong.

Guess posting pictures of the ears isn't going to happen since I need permission from first. Damn there are a lot of rules to this site. Normally I'm okay with this, but this is ridiculous. So I'm going to log out, and never come back. Thanks again for the replies. Good thing I am not desperate for anything RC10 or in the case Kyosho related. :x

Wow, most of us just use photobucket- I've never thought about logging out and never returning but if that's the way you want to play it....knock yourself out!

Wow...you got answers to your questions and now you're bugging out? As has been said, linking to image hosting sites is fine & dandy. Oh well, maybe you just had a bad day or somebody shat in your Shreddies, but maybe you need a thicker skin if something that minor sets you off.

Well, in your case...he's right  but I've never been on a site where posting pics, with unlimited image storage, was so easy.

I also made good on his promise never to return  I love tantrums-
