These cars look great - definately high on the PB lovers list of wants.

While they might not have set the track on fire - they are certainly a significant parts of British R/C manufacturer history.

Great score - I know of at least two Aussies that would donate a "leftie" for a NIB ACE.

Cheers

ouch!

A minty PB ACE would also be nice let alone a NIB one...these are rarer than a Mini Mustang (which is also nice by the way). Come on lets see her Mr Asso-man!

Well I myself almost gave a "leftie" for it, but I still think I got a good deal given the rarity of the car (I've only seen 3 PB ACE so far, none of them was as complete and mint as this one).

Pics will come as soon as I get it!

Darryn, you're right about the ACE never setting the track on fire. And even if the previous Maxima and Mini Mustang were better handling cars, the ACE is, according to me, one of the best looking buggies ever. I just love all those nicely machined and designed aluminium parts...

Absolutely mate - certainly one of the prettiest buggies to come out of that era. Sadly it was too little to late for PB. I never understood why they went back to a rear motor........again - three steps forward and one big step back for them.

The Mustangs/Maxima's were a "good" car in the right hands - prrety comfortable to drive at 8 or even 9/10ths, very "bland" handling that made them easy to drive.

I only ever drove an ace two or three times - in testing. I was a team driver previously and tested the new car, it was fine, however was very "porsche like" - in other words it was like driving a pendulum!! Once the back end stepped out - it was gone, unless you had alot of power to punch it out of the "loop" it would inevitably end up doing. I ended up running a C.A.T then a Mid........

Still - would rather look at the ACE on the shelf than some of the other "copy cat" cars of the time.

ahhh- the 80's and early 90's - what a period for our hobby.

Cheers

Darryn

Check out the PB Diamond just about every part on that car was machined out of aluminium. I know it is an 1/8 nitro car and abit off topic but it was PB's final car to be released (discounting the 1/5 scales)

I would have loved to get that ACE. I did put in an offer (of what I could afford) but it obviously sold before I could get another shot at it. Oh well it is xmas and the extra money will help with stuff that goes under the tree-

Great score anyway. I have been running my modded Mini Mustang quite a bit lately. I have a NIB Maxima and a runner Maxima waiting for some attention. I guess these will have to do me. LOL!

Certainly hope you don't include me on that list Daz..... I wouldn't give a left nose hair for an Ace. While I've been a Mini Mustang fan from day dot, the Ace never did anything for me. Even when I got parts for one, including all the alloy housings, they just looked too agricultural for me. Of course, there was the rear motor design too.... the whole car just left me cold.

Course, now super deals on Ace buggies will flood in to my dealings...... but hey, that's life.

Yeah when you consider what was around on the race track when this car was released it was pretty obvious this was never going to be a competitive racer. Who knows why they went this way but the design has little if any merrit in my opinion. Now this isnt to say it doesnt make avery nice collectors peice today. Heck I'd love one of these cars and that car on ebay was probably the best example anyone will ever see.
