Re: Jedi's 'Old to New' Build Thread!
OK, so hopefully you guys can see the style that I've tried to follow here; it's my version of a modern day Jay Halsey. Was my first attempt at painting a shell with liquid mask. I'm not great with a scalpel but it seemed to come out OK in the end.
Didn't have exactly the right decals, so replaced some of them with modern ones.
Comments welcome as always.....

Found it quite tough to get a retro look with modern colours. As it turns out I used the replica layout and just added my own race coloursSMOKE-DOG wrote:That looks good and old school. Nice work.

Re: Jedi's 'Old to New' Build Thread!
Finally got around to putting some original shocks on the front end (need to order some screws the fit the rears...) and I'm shocked at the difference it makes to the look of this shell. I've never been a real fan of the Viper shell, but now that the stance is lower I absolutely love it......Jedi Master wrote:When I first built it I quite liked the high front end, bu I think I'll follow your point and get some different shocks for it..JK Racing wrote:I think the Fiberlyte front shock tower was designed for .71 shocks, the 3 racing/AE V2/Kyosho Velvet shocks are .89 (approx) in size - why your front end looks to be WAY up in the air. If you gonna run it, you will need lots of limiters to bring it down or a different front shock tower or different shocks.
Overall this thing is stellar...the chassis is fantastic, damn exchange rate
As always; rate it or slate it!......
The old set-up............sucks!!!!

Re: Jedi's 'Old to New' Build Thread!
Not a full build, and certainly not by me, but more of a 'brush up' of one that I bought from a member on here
A few new decals, new wing and modern electrics. Only a 5700 castle motor, but still balloons the tyres!
Will need to shorten the wiring at some point.

Re: Jedi's 'Old to New' Build Thread!
So a quick question, did Fiber-Lite also make a 1 piece chassis?
Remember it's either a runner or a shelfer. Everything else is just parts.

It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas
