I am not sure about that. My current gears are on their 3rd motor.

I have been using them since 1992, they have never been replaced.

In fact this is the first time I have had the tranny apart.

spare parts are never a bad thing.. true

I am curious. what do you all recommend for lube for tranny (in and out)

Also, what about the felt dust seals? What do I replace those with? Mine were worthless and fell apart pulling them out.

Run the inside dry and use Associated lube on the diffballs in the spur gear. Replace the felt seals with bearings.

yes, four. 2 for the outside, and 2 for the inside.

yep, everything that everyone has said is good to rebuild stock.

Or, you could add the 3/8" x 5/8" outdrive bearings, and do this mod to get rid of the extra inner bearings.

So, I got the care package yesterday. I will be using the bearings I got for the rear axles.

Here is what I got and what I need. Progress is slow but worth it. I am looking forward to getting it back on the road!

This is what I have have thus far courtesy of JHarris

This is what bearings I need to replace

I need a bearing to fill the gap here? This is where the felt seal was.

According to this I need two bearings here... I see the mod, don't want to bother. Seems to me I need more bearings than we mentioned earlier in this thread (I could be mistaken)
