CVD's have been assembled. These are the early version with smooth round bell bottom. I was going to use Shiny bones, but since they list B3 (1997) I feel they are too new for my build.

Shock parts have been gathered. These are bottom load bodies.
Thank you. Looking back the technology and quality of these parts is just as cool today as it was in the early 90's. What's left on your build?
Yes, a really cool platform. I've more or less stranded at this stage. Was your front brace black? As you see mine has no surface treatment. About 95% of the parts are in place for a rolling chassis, but waiting for the right time to assemble the rest - I want to enjoy the build rather than throwing it together. Also got some other projects in the pipeline to finish before this one. As you see I've opted for the RPM gear box and trans brace. RPM steering, #1007 MIP axles, AE green shocks (1.02 and 1.32) are also in the bundle. Not planning for any electronics so far.

Your foundation looks fantastic. Nice to see you opted for the older gold components on the rear.

My front brace is coated black. It appears CC offered it in both coated and uncoated. Is your RPM bellcrank the first revision that's compact black without ball bearing, or the later translucent ball bearing version that shipped with the Ultra Molded kit? I saw scr8p's post on the RPM case mod a while back. Since I was itching to use the Thorp 64P gears I stuck with the 2.25 Stealth. I've seen a few builds that use the JG A-33 rear tower in case you planned on using the stock AE 6378 to color match the front.

Thanks. Managed to get hold of a new chassis set almost ten years ago, so it's been around for a while. Then slowly collecting rpm parts +++. The steering is the translucent ball bearing version.
Nice to see you got hold off CC towers and battery strap! I've not settled on what towers to use. Also wasn't sure about the gold, but taking the CE stealth into account it should sort of work as a period correct build. And I think it looks rather good!
Did you make any considerations about the MIP bottom loader shocks from a period perspective?

Yes, the Mip bottom loaders became available in or around Aug. 1990 according to the old RCCA ad I posted earlier. This date would be right around the time AE Team hard ano shocks hit the market. I opted to use them since you don't really see them that often, and I have several Mip goodies on my build. I'm on the fence about opening up my CC battery strap though. It was much easier to open my nip Mip battery brace for the time being. :D

Shocks are assembled. I filled them with vintage AE 30wt silicone oil and used RCPS green slime on the shock parts. I made sure to wrap a couple of pieces of gorilla tape around my needle nose pliers to prevent marring the bottom of the shaft. OCD kicked in and made me order two packs of vintage AE 4-40x3/4" button head screws for mounting the shocks. This will match all of the other hardware except the 4 aluminum tranny shcs.

Yea, but the tape isn't part of the build. Otherwise the new production paper towels & WD40 I am using to clean up items would not be appropriate either. My ocd is not quite that bad.

The AE shock mount screws arrived, so I will finish mounting the shocks later today. I also picked up a set of CC low profile servo mounts. These might have originally been a pan car part, but I have several sets in my pit box from bitd and used them on my buggy.

Added translucent RPM 7031 Up-travel limiters to the rear and Bud's wing mounts. I used a small JG shock shaft spacer on the lower rear rod end since it has the pivot ball. At least it's a slider now.

Thank you. It's been a real treat to source the parts and build it up.

I was torn on what wheels to use, but I knew in 1994 the majority of competitive racers were using 2.2 rears. As much as I wanted to use my HPI Super Stars the rear are 2.0 :( I decided to use TQ 2.175 rears with Pro-84 Y design, and for the front it's CE 3-piece with Wide-Fives. Since the Y's were great for loamy tracks it's an ideal tire for this buggy.

I haven't heard of a 2000 SCRC. According to vrcmag the RC-2000 was released in late 1996. They are featured as a new item in the Trinity winter 1996-97 guide.
