Thanks Atlas,
I took my younger kid to the track Friday night & due to a birthday party we ended up on the Blue King with a couple of wing cars. Then I proceeded to get schooled by my 5yr old - seriously embarrassing when over a half an hour he is only off track 4 times and Im running laps to get my car on a regular basis (and he's not going much slower than I am!). Crazy, but fun...

I'm not exactly sure what scale they were, but we used to have a local track that was 6 or 7 lanes wide. Most of the cars were made by Parma. That was huge fun!

I race 1/24 slot cars, "wing cars" are my favorite but I also race "scale cars". My father got me involved when I was a kid. It’s a great hobby, the only down side is the tracks seem to come and go, even more so than RC.

Here’s a Group 7 (Unlimited) race held in Bruhl, Germany on a 155’ King track.

This is the size I was referring to. We ran the wedge bodies, some nascar bodies and handbuilt EDM bodies.

You guys ever seen the Gene Husting DVDs from the days of slotting from the 60s? If not, you need to check them out. THOSE slot cars in the vids are the shnitzle!

Here is a picture of my slot car table. I have around 200 old Aurora slot cars and around 30 1/32 slot cars. I will try to post some pictures of my cars later.

Just stumbled across this article and remembered hearing that name here, so I thought I'd post it:

I got into the vintage 60s and 70s stuff a while back. Really liked Dynamic's chassis and parts. Digging it all out of storage now and realizing I've got about 10x what I thought I had...

Since I'm a big VW guy, most of my display cars are VW based.

Here's a slammed bus I built to look like an old Dynamic delivery vehicle

Another vintage style car. Bug bodied dragster. Suicide front axle hanging out there, while a blown V8 pokes through the hood with headers blowing out the wheel wells.
Drafted out the chassis to fit an old Pittman "padlock" style motor (with 7 pole upgraded arm). Bent it up on the metal break, brushed it, blaa blaa blaa....

The famous Jarius Watson painted this body for me. I planned to use it for another project, but have more projects than time, so this is where it ended up.

cheap Dubro VW bug bodies re-poped by current companies are thin and brittle  I learned my lesson and will send JW a NOS Dubro from my stash next time!

I drive by that place a couple days a week (when I go to the office at WCC), but have only been there a handful of times. It's a super cool place that old timer locals frequent. Those people have vast knowledge of slot car history. Most of the stuff in my slot car display case was made before I was born, and it's awesome to talk to those guys and have them tell me about the history of whatever old cars/parts i've got on hand. Man, that place is so cool... few slot tracks left around the country, and I've got one of the greats close by. Makes me feel bad for not taking better advantage of it!!!!
I've been too focused on the R/C stuff lately and have left the slot cars in the display case.
Next time you're in SoCal, let me know and I'll dig out some runners! Hopefully my old Cox controller doesn't catch fire or something stupid  Everything I've got is way vintage!
