Re: Cliff Lett RC10 Replica
i have some more good pics of it, now. the one you've seen is the best one (body off), even though it's in black and white.

scr8p wrote:actually, the biggest thing that has been holding up the masami car, as well as other builds, was the lack of new hardware. that issue has been taken care of now. other than finding an original protech body, or a re-issue with the wavy window net, i'm pretty sure i have everything i need to finish that car.
my attention span could use some help. my biggest problem is that i have alot of stuff i want to build, and i always seem to find more. well, there's just not enough money to go around to build everything i want in a resonable amount of time. then with what little money i do have to spend, i spread it out across a bunch of builds and nothing ever gets done. or it takes forever to get done. as much as i tell myself that i'm going focus on one certain build until it's finished, it never happens.
that's exactly what happen's to me jason! so many unfinished car's everywhere quite annoying but now quite used to it. keen to see this new replica man.

Re: Cliff Lett RC10 Replica
here are some of the parts i have got or have been hanging on to in preparation of this build:
proline dirt flirt 2.1 fronts
schumacher cat 2.0 full rear spikes
tq 2.1 fronts
proline 2.0 rears (should be tq 2.0 rears but i don't have any more, so these will be temporary 'til i find some)
andy's front and rear arms
t&a titanium dogbones (all mine are used. one is nice, the others not so much. i'll have to pick the best of the bad ones)
i'll also be getting a mirage s.s. from jay for it, too.

Re: Cliff Lett RC10 Replica
I always wondered what these hard annodized shock caps that's being talked about from time to time. Are they rare? What exactly do they look like? I know all the RC10s I got have the black annodized caps, so those are probably not rare. Is there a variety that's special?scr8p wrote:do you have these from back in the day, or did someone do them for you? those have been keeping me away from a different masami replica.Ruffy wrote: hard ano'd shock caps,

they're not rare to an ae driver from the late 80's, early 90's. they were a "team" thing, not sold to the general public.Bimdapogs wrote:I always wondered what these hard annodized shock caps that's being talked about from time to time. Are they rare?

Re: Cliff Lett RC10 Replica
alright, now i can really get started.
i sent the parts off to jeff after i had got some of the mods done to the chassis pieces to have them re-ano'd (sides cut down, motor plate and rear kickup radiused). everything turned out great. unfortunately, i forgot to cut the back part of the nose plate off like a worlds nose plate before i sent them, so i'm gonna have to be super careful when i do it. i also opened the holes up down the tub sides and the 2 in the motor plate, then sanded the ano off the edges where mods were done.
i still have to go through my old shocks yet to come up with a decent set to have hard ano'd. but atleast i can get going on it for now.

Anticipation of this build is growing, at least for me!
Love all the build-efforts on this forum. Congrats to everyone for their achievements.
You got me on the edge of my seat scr8p.

i started this thing less than 2 months ago. with my track record, we might hit rc10talk's 10th anniversary before this gets done.

Re: Cliff Lett RC10 Replica
alright, against my better judgement, i'm gonna post a pic of this car just so miguel can get a good night of sleep without tossing and turning in anticipation of my car being done.
for the record, this is NOT how the car looked after the race, which is how my car will be.
