highwayracer's YZ10 / 870c restoration

Post by highwayracer »

hello All,

I decided to take some pictures of my current projects. I got this car about 10 years ago and decided recently to finally restore it. I honestly think that these cars (with the correct upgrades) can still be very competetive today.

It has the following:

RPM front bulkhead
RPM rear bulkhead (with belt tensioner)
RPM rear hubs
RPM front hubs (unfortunately, I only have one...can't find the other one) :(
RPM bellcranks (customized for the yokomo)
RPM tie rod ends
Assocated teflon team shocks (front and rear)
graphite weave lower chassis
custom upper deck designed to for the RPM bulkheads
graphite shock towers
robinson machined spur gear (nylon) / rear belt cog (steel)
proline wheels
universals
adjustable turnbuckles (tecnacraft style)
new hardware was used throughout the car
new bumper

Overall, the car is in excellent condition. Many new parts were used for the restoration.

Here are some pics:

I wonder what the guys at RPM were thinking when they made that open bulkhead for the front...
Looking splendid further

Thanks Gary,

After a while, I began to like the prolines...I originally didn't like them. I guess this was when I was in my 5 spoke (star) phase.

Not really sure yet. I have a clear (used) yz10 and a painted andy's body. I also have one of jay's 870c reproductions, but I'm saving that for another project.

Regards,
Roger

The holes were actually put there to allow better airflow into the motor. The older motors don't have venting properties of todays motors.

As for the battery posts, I'm not sure because they came with the car. It's harder than nylon...almost like delrin. The thumb screws are aluminum.

Roger

I'll check my toolbox to see if I have some tecnacrafts in that size. Are your turnbuckles 4-40 thread?...or 6-40. 4-40 fits on a standard losi/associated ball cup, while the 6-40 requires a larger hole.

they are 3mm (4/40) and 50mm long for the rear to ajust the camber i'm loocking to find the same as yours with holes in it cuz thats what i have in front that are on the car from early 90 when i was riding the car you say they are tecnacrafts?

are those prolines wheels hard to find?
