Optima mid turbo - convert to Javelin

Post by Chillout47 »

I cant find a legendary series Javelin at the moment, is it possible to convert a Optima mid turbo using the roll cage? Is there anything else that I would need? Many thanks.

Not a Mid, need an Optima or Turbo Optima, then it can be done with a cage, roll bar, and possibly rear gearcase (Someone may be able to confirm) for the rear wing. Pargu also make wing mounts that attach to the cage
You name it - and I want it ;)

Not mid, don't know why I typed that, thanks for confirming its rear motor Optima that I would need.

I like the gold on the Optima turbo so hopefully a conversion can be done. I'll download the manuals and compare gearbox casings and parts availability. I had not though about the wing mount.

I checked the manuals, gearboxes look the same, wing mounts for Javelin are separate and bolt on the same as the spacers on the Turbo, and parts are available in UK. I see the Turbo has a skid plate, not sure if this can be used with the cage as well?. If there is something else I have missed please let me know.

For the rereleases it's easy, depending on how accurate you want the conversion.

You need the OT247 cage set and OT252 wing in the colour of your choice, and the OT251 roll bar, OT250 wing mount. The driver figure is the same as the Turbo.
Obviously there are different shocks, wheels and tyres but the only difference between the two for the rest is the colour.
