Flipwils's Old is New gold CE build

Post by flipwils11 »

I've had this one going for a pretty long time on and off among other projects. I'd say the roller is about finished now so I will share (plus askbob said I had to prove I was working on this!).

Parts

Base platform
Built but never run, perfect gold pan CE roller with 2.25 stealth trans
Hard annodized front .89 and rear 1.32 shocks from a B3
RPM shock collars and spring perches in black

front suspension
RPM front arms
Inetrc RC10FST001 RC-10 B4 Alloy Front Knuckle Arms with titanium axles (knuckles anodized gold)
Inetrc RC10FC001 RC-10 B4 Alloy C-Hub Set (anodized gold)
B4 kingpins, RCPS titanium hingepins (front and rear)
Atlas gold anodized aluminum front suspension mounts
RPM front bumper
Atlas carbon fiber front shock tower

rear suspension
Klein rear arms
RC10GT rear hub carriers
B44 CVD's
Atlas carbon fiber rear shock tower
Atlas carbon fiber trans brace
Atlas gold anodized aluminum rear suspension mounts

Other:
Atlas carbon fiber battery holddown
Lunsford Punisher titanium turnbuckles
Atlas gold anodized steering bellcranks
Titanium nose tubes from bigjeepz
Lexan undertray from someone on this board but forget his name?
JC Concepts Rulux yellow wheels for the B4
Proline Bowtie M3 rear buggy tires
Proline Scrubs MX front buggy tires

Still to come are electronics including a brushless setup and decisions on gearing. The body will be an Associated Sidewinder and I plan to do the B44 wing mounts i.e. Jeff Harris. Also I will dye the Klein arms black to match everything.

Nice, nice, nice!! What is the piece you have that connects the two steering cranks? Also, are the alloy hub parts available anywhere?

Thanks, the connector is the rpm one piece steering link. Tower and others carry it. The aluminum hubs are available through inetrc which is why I posted the part numbers. :P

Very nice. I really like seeing everyone's interpretation of an old/new buggy. Awesome ideas and fantastic execution. :)

I appreciate that! Do they come in bare aluminum? You wouldn't have another set of the Atlas rear A-arm mounts would you? :?:

They come in silver and I think they are anodized or have some protective coating. My anodized prepped them and did them in gold for me. I don't have anymore suspension stuff from Atlas but you can pm him and see if he has anything left for sale.

With your experience on both builds, do you think these would work on the gold pan with the Atlas A-arms?: http://www.inetrc.com/store/index.cfm?action=ViewDetails&ItemID=165&Category=14

They have a few killer build pics that show a full metal car. Not sure where they sourced all of those parts. The aluminum rear bulkhead looks nice.

I also have a few questions on the Inetrc parts. The parts listed are all for the B4 but they show them on the Aluminum chassis. Do the B4 parts fit the chassis without modification (arm mounts, trans)?

I emailed with Alex when I got those hub carriers and spindles and asked about his other stuff in the pictures you guys have found on that site. It sounded like he made them for himself (must be a CNC guy) ad hoc but never intended to produce more and sell them. But I emailed him and sent him the link to this thread, the best build of all time thread, and the aluminum parts thread so maybe he will comment.
