My Craigslist Find: Early Edinger RC10!!
I don't usually hunt for vintage r/c cars on Craigslist because most of them are pretty thrashed. I was bored and decided to see if there were any used JRx2's to finish off my projects when I came across someone selling a "Radio Control Car" posted 6 days ago. I clicked the link and saw a not so clear picture a gold tub RC10. I didn't think much of it till I noticed a very old Futaba box next to the car. Hmmm....could this be an Edinger RC10? I sent the person a text and he immediately called back. He explained to me he purchased the car for his wife and she only ran it once. He told me its been stored away ever since. Since he was a nice guy over the phone and he was 40 minutes away, I told him I'd take the car off his hands. If it ended up being a Cadillac RC10, I would take it anyway since it had low run time. Anyway, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. It came with a nicely painted body with a paint scheme from that era. Also the bodies were the original, hard plastic lexan. Hopefully, I'll be done with my JRx2 projects so I can start my Cadillac and my Edinger RC10's.

She only drove it once, and spent half that time trying to get up a curb.
Congrats on the pick up.

I hate you
I don't ever seem to find stuff like this - that's a nice score, got the multi ribbed front tires and good year rear tires in perfect shape.

Wow got the early early one with the cool shock cups and fiberglass straps
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Super duper nice score and I love that body. Yes I do believe Curtis Husting said he painted the early batch of bodies! I feel lucky to have a blue one but that black one is to die for!
And to think you were out looking for a Loosi! pfft!

Wow. I didn't know Curtis Husting painted a few of the early bodies. I'm guessing he painted this one because the design is similar in style to the early RC10 bodies I've seen.

Yeah Jason, I noticed that too. The pattern on the wing sort of gives that away doesn't it..scr8p wrote:the black body is the real gem, if it was painted by curtis.

UPDATE ON THE PAINTED BODY
Just got word from Curtis Husting that he painted the body....
"I painted that body. At one time (many years ago) I was painting production bodies for AE. I have painted over 4,000 bodies. It was not a custom paint job but a production paint job. I did many in that style in many different color combinations. "
Best regards,
Curtis Husting

Those of you who would like to copy the design, I added more photos. Sorry for the bad quality. They were taken on my phone. As for my version of project '84 Curtis Edinger, its on hold for now.
