Asso_man! wrote:That is beautiful Erik, most probably your fastest and most consistent car I guess? I always thought an Utlima needs a Stealth tranny to make it perfect. Where did you race it in the end? In the Netherlands? I can't wait until we arrange a racing day again together. Been travelling around in Europe quite a lot these last weeks and life is a bit hectic at home as well with our second son. I'll contact you any time soon.
Nooooooooh, my mid motered cars drive better actually. Still need to put pictures of my converted academy actually
I think I've put too much toe-in using the traxxas arms: the car is really very pushy at nail speed it turns very tight but as soon as I touch the throttle it's like a boat. Maybe I'll switch to otpima rear arms, but then the colr doesn't match with the white andy's in the front
Yes, the Netherlands, but the staelth was added for BPT in Merchtem. They don't have many races but we can arrange some practise whenever you like (and Yuka doesn't plan something else
Momo5 wrote:Now that is amazing! How difficult was it to stuff a stealth tranny in it? Can you take a few more pics of the tranny?
Not that hard actually, but the outdrives are closer centered and that's where it gets harder. That's why I used the longer ZX5 CVD's. They turned out the exact right length...after trying numerous axle carriers with different offsets on the traxxas arms. (I haven't measured up the width yet after all the changes; scared it might be a couple mm too wide to be legal.)
Basically I have a 3mm black fiberglass piece under the stealth. The rear of the gearbox sits against the rear suspension holder and is bolt onto the fiberglaas piece with countersunk screws. I had just enough space left in front of the gearbox to use the original mount holes of the original gearbox. Tapped thread in the fiberglass piece and tadaaa:

If I'd had more time I'd have redone the black piece and fixed it using 2 more M4 countersunk screws: through the holes under the outdrives you can see in the above pic.
