How to run modern rubber on your JRX series car

I see Proline released an "in hub" bearing set up for the SC10. Uses a 12mm hex (like Kyosho RB5). Depending on the offset, this could be an option?

Just trying to get all the options we can think about into a single thread, so anyone wanting to run these great cars can find the info quickly and easily.

I haven't even started my vintage Losi yet, but this is a subject I have thought a lot about. (for my Ultima Pro) The way I see it, a Losi buggy should have spoked wheels, none of this dish stuff. (I LOVE the original JRx2 5-spokes!) I've seen the Rulux wheels and the look nice on the car.(Not faithful,to the original, but better than a dish). The XX 5-spokes I also like despite the width issue.(I campaigned a XXcr for many years.) Her's what I think I'm going to do. RB5 carriers and axles and such, and then these wheels: I think a nice light orange dye job would be good too .

I've heard that the RB5 carrier adds a little width, so that should help the problem with the XXcr wheel, and if more width is needed, you could use the rears up front, cut to width of course. (You can see that the rear has a little MORE offset than the front.) Also search for the Ultra 7 wheel from HPI - it's a combination dished/spoked wheel, looks good, nylon material, comes molded in a few colors already. (A little more like an Ultima wheel.)

Nice pull on the 5 spoke HPI wheels. If I wasnt converting all my buggies to B4/Rulux wheels, I would be all over that.

Well, it is nice to have options ... and the RB5 parts availability is a big plus for front carriers / spindles.

How close a fit are the RB5 front carriers with the outer hinge pin / outer JRX2 arm?

I guess the 12mm hex adapters are the Proline aluminum adapters for the SC10? I wonder what that will do to the rear track width.

It is a bit pricey to run modern 2.2s, picking up all of the gear for the front *and* back, but it would look very distinctive.

front, if you go RB5 (I dont have parts to check sizing), knuckles, spindles, axles, bearings, pin & hex...for the rear, use a Slash rear hex on the Losi axle, fits fine (I had build an LXT-SC using Slash wheels)

12mm conversion....done.

Hex, pins & 4mm "nuts" (bout $4 plus shipping) maybe use the spare set out back with a little fiddling?

I built my Pro se for the Vonats and I didn't want any grief about running to modern of a Losi, so I used all Prose, XX parts as my motivation to keep it all true Losi. both cars qualified for the Vonats was going to be my argument. My RPM arms , Puretech battery strap Lunsford turn buckles are vintage correct. the only modern parts are the Electric's and tires. but the tires could be correct xx so it is really all vintage legal. the Losi threaded shocks may blow that but their going on their anyway, they are so smooth.

Thanks I am going to build a Jrx2 runner also. it will have a old school truck body on it but will have a x2 short chassis.

It looks like the "XXT conversion axles" as mentioned in the first post, might work well for B4 WIDE wheels? I have a set of B4 wides I have tried to mount on the front of my JrxPro SE and they need just shy of 1/8" of outward spacing for the inner bead of the wheel to clear the outer steering rod end. I can't tell off hand from the picture how much farther they push the wheel out...

edit: I should mention that I have the jammin' steering enhancement kit, which uses different (taller) spindle carriers, and this might affect fitment on my particular car slightly.

Rick, those wheels TECHNICALLY didn't come out until th XXcr, but who's counting. I know the Australian vintage guys use an earlier cutoff date which disqualifies the XX, and it would actually disallow the stealth with intrepretation of the DATE. However, they DO allow the stealth.

I respect keeping it all Losi , I just thought that the HPI 5-starts were kind of true to the original JRX2 style.

The Jammin' kit was very similar to the LXT front spindles, so no issues there. I personally think the XXT axles would make the front way to wide. I use a very small spacer (the one that goes on the rear axle, before the pin) on the inside, then bolt my B4 wheels on. Easy and done.

If it didnt need the rare RPM front arms it would be a very viable option. Is there a replacement arm out there? Like the Dynotech/Klein arms?

Andy's front arms for the ultima are a very close fit. I have these RPM arms on an ultima. So Itake it vice versa will work too, just need to ream the hinge holes a little (0.2mm)

Joey, I pulled the knuckle/carrier tree for even less... I got it for 8.40 shipped!!
